Respect for our different cultures

Kia Ora everyone,

As part of our schoolwide C.A.R.E. programme (this term is Empathy), we have been learning about the different cultures in our classroom.

Below are some photos of Antara dressed in traditional Indian clothing. Antara was in a show where she danced with other children.

Thanks for being so brave and sharing some things about your Indian culture with us in assembly Antara. We learnt a lot.

The America's Cup race

Hi everyone,

Room 3 have been following the America's Cup over the past couple of days so today we watched some racing, streaming live, on our interactive whiteboard. We decided to write a story about the race we watched. Here are some of them...

Crash! Crash went the waves. I was about to explode with excitement. The race was about to start. Woo-hoo! Yippee! The race started. The sailors were grinding and pulling out their muscles. "Ouch, that hurt!" Said one of the sailors. "Grind even faster!" Yelled another sailor, "we're loosing, they're winning!"
Olivia

The waves crashed. The boats were off out of the water. I didn't believe it. It looked cool. How do they do that? Splash! "Oh no! Go! Go! Go!" What - we loose? That's not fair. I thought we would win.
Samuel

Bash! Crash! Splash! Wish wash. Go! Go! Go! Team New Zealand I hope you win the America's Cup.
Theo

The waves were crashing. Bang! Bang! Bang! They sped off at the start. The water looked like a pearl. I heard people yelling. I'm so excited to see who will win. I yelled at the screen, "Quickly! Quickly! Get in front and win. Hurry!"
Amelia

Pump, pump, as fast as thunder, otherwise we won't win. Put more sails up so we go faster like the wind. New Zealand is in the lead. Yay! New Zealand wins.
Harvey

As the water pulled, the boats pushed. The boats bumped as well. The race was happening a long way away. The boats went bumpety humpety bump. The island shivered. "Ahhhh" They cried. They did not need rope. They did not like loosing at all, but the race was quite good anyway. Team New Zealand lost.
Philippa

Let's hope they win tomorrow!

Have a great weekend and try to remember to bring back your choices for electives on Monday.

Welcome to the world, Master McQuillan

Kia Ora everyone,

We have some fabulous news... Theo has a new baby brother. Congratulations to your family! We are so happy for you all.

Theo, you will have to teach him how to play your favourite games. We look forward to hearing what his name is.

Tomorrow is our last day at the ASB Sports Centre. Please remember to dress your child in the appropriate clothing, including footwear, so that they fully enjoy the experience.

Thanks for your support.

We have some very excited children today, planning their attire for the disco tonight.  We'll see you there!

Ocean Adventures and more!

Above is a photo of an eagle ray swimming with a black tip reef shark. The person who took this photo is a friend of Rory's family. He was swimming at Kicker Rock in the Galapagos Islands.

Below is a photo of Isla and her new kitten. Isla we are so happy that you now have another special kitten to love. His name is Batman and he likes to scratch his claws on the couch and chairs instead of his scratching board.

Also just a quick reminder about sports at the ASB Centre this Thursday. Please send a waterproof raincoat to school with your child as the weather is forcast for rain.

Thanks for your support!

It's a day made for...

Good morning everybody,

Today we wrote poems starting with the line: It's a day made for...

It's a day made for jumping on the trampoline.
It's a day made for painting the house.
It's a day made for sunshine to play in the grass.
Samuel

It's a day for swimming and running and playing at the park.
It's a day for walking on the waterfront.
It's a day for playing.
I just wish I could do all these things every day.
Olivia

It's a day made for  patting sheep.
It's a day made for  diving down to the coral reef.
It's a day made for going to the zoo.
It's a day made for reading a book.called Loop the Loo.
Harvey

It's a day made for staying in and making invitations for your friends to come over and play and have fun!
It's a day made for having a nice walk to a toy shop and buying new toys for me!
It's a day for going to Junglerama and climbing to the top of the slide and having a good day!
Isla B

It's a day made for going to the park and playing tag.
It's a day made for going to the swimming pools.

All Blacks vs Australia

Kia Ora,

We have two girls in our midst who were lucky enough to meet the All Black's captain at the rugby game recently.

Here we have Isla and Charlotte at the cake tin for the game.

Here is Isla with her cousin, Ritchie.

What a great photo Isla!
