Today we brainstormed all the things we wanted to write about in the future, and we came up with some really great ideas.
Today we dicided to write about the deep dark forest. The following are from some children who tried super hard and wrote amazing stories.
Dinosaur
I saw big feet in the jungle. His neck was higher. He was my friend. He put me on his back. I saw a small bad dinosaur.

In a deep dark forest there was a big house. It looked like it was deserted so I went into the house. Suddenly some spikes popped up from the ground and a big flag came up. I heard some creaking floorboards. There was some music too. It was spooky. There was also a whole tomme of people there. They looked like pigs. Thery were friendly and the house was really big.

A girl went into the forest. She saw a tree with some apples. She took a bite from the apple tree. Suddenly she felt something on her back. There were some wings on her back! She saw some footprints then she followed them. She saw a man. He was a wizard. She could keep the wings. She flew high and low and fast and all around different countries. She was so happy.

Our stories

In the weekend I went to the slide with my sister and I laughed and liked playing with my sister. I had some fun.

We were driving in the car when there was a fight. My dad said, "Stop!". We continued on, but it was sorted out. It was fun driving.

When I went to the zoo we went to the giraffes. When we went to get an ice-block Carlos bit me. My mum said, "Carlos, you don't get an ice-block". Carlos was sad. I was happy that I got an ice-block. My ice-block tasted like strawberry.

In the weekend I went to the pool to play monsters and after that I went home and I had hot chocolate. I had fun.

I went outside.I took a step in the grass. Something was changed. I had a lot of flowers. There was only a little bit of grass. "Oh no! There is a castle next to my house!" There is a princess in the castle. Is it an evil princess? I am scared. She is coming out! I want a hug, but when she comes out, she wasn't a wicked princess afterall so I was safe.

One painter said, "good morning". They all wore white shirts. I couldn't watch T.V. I hope the new colour is worth all the bother!

Drama in Room 3....

We've been practising our improvisation skills and this week we're going to continue to practise them at home for homework.
We start with a simple sentence, called a sentence starter. Then we have to think of something to carry it on with.
For example, You are walking through an aquarium when....
Think of some exciting and interesting sentences to share with the class.

Show, don't tell...
Hi everyone,
This week we are focusing on 'show, don't tell' in our writing. This means that the children have to describe an emotion to convey a picture with words, without actually saying what the emotion was.
See if you can tell which emotion we wrote about today.
My body was shaking like an octopus., My eyes were really big, like a goblin. My bike didn't have brakes. I couldn't stop it.

My legs were wiggling like a cat. My arms were shaking like a dog. When I was going down the hill on my scooter, I fell off.

I was shaking. My eyes were as wide as giant circles. I was tumbling down a cliff on the back of my dad's bike.

Once I was as still as a stone. I was hopping up and down. I gasped. My body had to calm down. I was about to go on a water slide.

My scream was hurting my eardrums. My knees were knocking. My eyes were wide open. I gasped for breath. I was at my first swimming lesson.

My arms were shaking. My hands were clenched around the handlebars. My eyes were as wide as a basket ball. I thought I felt blood dripping down my leg. The wind whistled up underneath me. I was on my bike, on a narrow bridge, high above the ground.

My eyes were open, as big as balloons. My arms were shaking. My fingers were shaking. My toes were wobbling like a wobbly tooth. My hands were stiff. My stomach felt like it had been hit with a pillow. It felt like my hair had been chppped off. I went down the water slide.

More weekend recounts from some hard workers...
A couple more boys wrote their stories and put in a superb effort so deserved to have their work published too. Publishing the children's work is an important part of the writing process. Sometimes we celebrate stories that have wonderful language qualities, creativity, workers who are motivated and get down their writing quickly and quietly, and those who try really hard. Also, I like to publish everyone in the class at least once a term. The children get such a lot of joy and feel so proud when their story is out in the world for everyone to read... they are real published authors! They also love to get feedback on their work, so please, leave us a message about their stories.
Junaid's english is coming along very well. This story is about some building he did with the wooden blocks:

Parent - child - teacher conferences today
Hi all, today we start our parent, child, teacher conferences.
If the children do not get picked up at 2pm today, they will go to the hall for a movie.
The following stories are from two boys who made a big effort today. Well done boys!
We built an army tank. Me, Junaid and Rory built it. It has fins.
